A complete merge was not discussed from the BB side so far. The 5% represent the nations mentioned by Ryan in the list of nations that might be merged.

A possible merger affects like 5% of the current managers. We can afford to lose a bunch of them.

you mean this? (278268.75)

I thought that this nonsens Leagues are out of the discussion?? If this is still the basis, please tell me with which countrys in this posting Austria should be merged. And, can you really afford to lose a bunch of our 54 Managers in Austria?

I won't discuss this topic with you anymore.

I have seen like 200 users quit in Austria, so you really think 10-20 more would bother me a lot, if in the long run the expectations to retain users are much better? Let's agree to disagree.

Once more I guess it needs to be pointed out that this is a meaningless internet game. The obsession with nationalities is absurd as far as I'm concerned.
Ding ding ding we have a winner!

I hope you really mean this and act accordingly, because the best solution by far will be to keep teams together but reshuffle leagues according to world rank and not nationality. You read that right -- leagues consisting of evenly matched teams from all over. A league would look a lot like individual teams do now, with players of all nations playing together as one team. Teams of all nations playing together as one world.

Figure out how many such international worlds you need to have full Division 1, 2, 3 and 4 and shuffle accordingly. Retain forums for each language and retain B3 for each country. Home games at 6PM local time would give an international sense to the game as well. Imagine full competitive leagues in all divisions! Imagine a fair competition for all new teams (none of this starting in a high division crap). Imagine actually growing the game!

Thanks for all these answers.

Just a remark or two:
There's a lot of information in your post to respond to so I'll keep it to one or two sentences per point:

2) This game was designed as a Basketball sim in which you play in your own country, not in a virtual non-existing country named "BuzzerbeaterLand". It would be hard for lots of people to leave there home country and virtually settle in a foreign country. I guess it would be even easier to get rid of everything as it is now a start all over again. Maybe have one Top league in each continent and let all players decide in which country they want to play.

Once more I guess it needs to be pointed out that this is a meaningless internet game. The obsession with nationalities is absurd as far as I'm concerned. That said, it doesn't matter since we've already established that any potential merge will not remove countries and flags.

I can really understand your sight of things: BB is a meaningless internet game and I also dislike this obsession with nationalities. But as long as any online game is using existing nations and existing flags these problems will occur unavoidably.

The only solution to this problem is to get rid of these nations that have the same names and flags as these on our earth and create new ones. There is a reason why most of these F/SF movies have countries with names that don't exist in reality.

Genius. With one little change, home games set to a time zone of your choosing, once at the top of the season for everyone, but unlimited for supporters so that you can have the Tuesday night game at say 9pm your time, but a Saturday home game at noon.

Thank you. It isn't really genius, it is just stepping back and looking at the big picture from the point of view of the game as a whole, not just a me-first look like so many posts here. It does meet all the standards I use to evaluate the suggestions written in this thread, namely:

1. Every team retains its national identity and retains its flag.
2. Every country could continue in BBB.
3. Every country would continue to have its own forum.
4. Countries that do not want to merge with each other would not have to do that.
5. Every world would have a full Division 1, 2 and 3 at least, and probably a full Division 4.
6. The competitive and financial advantages and disadvantages of playing in a macro country or a micro country would be completely evened out.
7. Every team could retain its own history.
8. The drafts could continue as they do now, making it easy to put better players in the draft and have it apply to everyone evenly.
9. Private Leagues could become more important to the game as they showcase teams of the same country.

a +1 and a little musical nod to your willingness to be part of this politicized process

I have a suggestion along those lines with regional alignment. Not entirely by time zones, but it does work to create evenly sized leagues that fill at least the first 3 divisions. (278372.1)

I have 1757 players for sale and I'm $25,835,360 in debt. Buy them at outrageous prices, or be selfish and make me go bankrupt. You decide, BB.
