We didnt lose fair and square,.....the way you want the readers to believe.....

Iran U21 put more into this game than Philippines U21.

This is more of a lack of foresight on your part to properly assess your opponent.....did you played take it easy? or hard to believe iranU21 played crunch time againts your normal game?

you thought you can easily win againts iranU21.....they prove you wrong.

lucky for you...you can learn from this mistake....and do better next time.

Matanong lang.

You think it was wiser to have played with the same effort as Iran U21?

hmmm...some people are explicitly implying that some of us readers dont know team handling....and proper management of team games within team schedule in context of the more important games againts those that can be let go.

Well, surprising as it is, that others think they know everything and they think those who merely observe lack the proper perspective....they are the one that will be surprise,,,how much we know.

We are not seeking an explanation on why it happened...we know this is an open forum...but what you are trying to hide is very much an open information thus no secret at all. and believe me...what you think we dont know...and you felt the desire to explain...but restricted by your knowledge that this is an open forum....we already know.

If we knew it, remember we are just ordinary BB players...thus you felt compelled to explain....how much more are those NT managers of other countries.

i wish no further participation in discussion about this so i will move on.

post ko lang ulit ...hindi nakuha ng isang ito.....pinatunayan nya lang ang mga sinabi ko.

In my opinion, hindi naman kailangan ng perfect record eh. As long as we set our 'eyes on the prize', then that's it. I would be frustrated if its for the championship and the opponent went to crunch time and normal lang tayo. But to be criticized like this na kauumpisa pa lang, I don't know. Different people, different nature. But its fun to have an antagonist. Let's go for the gold!

On to the Next Round!

Pilipinas U21 won against Indonesia U21 101 to 91 to officially book a place into the next round of Season 22 U21 Asian Championships held in Hong Kong. Sporting a 4-1 record Pilipinas is assured of 2nd place in Pool B with a non bearing last game against Asian powerhouse China.

"We look forward in our match against the mighty China squad. It is quite an honor to play (and hopefully beat) China as they are always the undisputed top dog in the Asian Region almost every season." Lolo Smithz said in an ambush interview. "Our players are pumped up for next Monday's match and will not concede an inch of ground and be intimidated by them when game time comes."

"Next round will be tough as all teams that will advance are going to be teams that can beat anyone in any given day. One miscalculation will have a very big effect on the standings. Hopefully we will succeed in our goal to reach the finals and win the Asian Championships and advance to the World Cup next season. God bless Team Pilipinas!"

Almost but not quite

Underdogs in the match against world ranked 6th China and wasn't even given a chance to win by most, the 20th ranked Pilipinas u21 squad gave their opponents quite a scare as they almost won the game succumbing to a 2 point loss in the end with a score of 87 to 89.

Pilipinas U21 star Luis Angelo Rubi was simply sensational, single-handedly carried the team in the first 3 quarters with a 19 of 25 shooting scoring 39 points and pulling down 12 rebounds plus 2 steals. Tan Chuyun and Luo Junkai of China U21 squad scored 32 and 24 points respectively along with 12 and 17 rebounds.

"Luo Junkai was the key to China winning this game. Very good player hard to guard can score inside and do jump shots. Simply an all around player that can also pass, steal and block. Tan Chuyun had early foul trouble with 4 fouls in the first half but managed to stay in the game playing all 48 minutes." Lolo Smithz said. "In all statistical categories we were almost even or even better than China so it gives us hope we can beat them with some adjustments if we ever meet again in the next round."

"My problem now with our U21 squad will be game shape. With the playoffs fast approaching trainers of their respective players will be forced sometimes to use their players more to win their league games. Hopefully our U21 players game shape will be at tip top shape in the 2nd round especially our point guards. Some of our better point guards have been a disappointment in terms of their game shape."

The Mabunay and Generoso Show

Playing catch up all game long Team Pilipinas looked headed into another loss this time against the Australian U21 squad but things changed in the last 5 minutes of the game when reserves SG Niel Mabunay and SF Mitchell Loonie Generoso came into the game.

Trailing 71 to 69 In the 3:47 mark of the 4th quarter Generoso drove to the hoop and was fouled in the act of shooting by Harry McNicholas. Generoso calmly shoot both free throws to tie the game. A rebound from an Australian team miss in the ensuing play by Mabunay was push up the court and Mabunay passed the ball to Generoso for a big time dunk giving Philippines a two point lead that led to a 30 second timeout by Australia.

Mabunay stole the ball when play restarted and passed the ball inside to Generoso but Generoso saw a wide open Mabunay and passed the ball back to him which Mabunay confidently shoot from the top of the key to added another 2 points to the lead 71 to 75. Another great defense lead to another scoring opportunity for the Pilipinas squad which Mabunay again spearheading the offense passing inside to Generoso scoring on a driving layup. The Pilipinas team never relinquished the lead after that and went on the win 85 to 77.

A very relieved Lolo Smithz was seen smiling like crazy after the game after spending the entire game pouting and cursing. "To tell you frankly at the 3rd quarter when Australia had a 10 point lead I thought that was it for us but our boys stepped up and made the game close to end the third quarter with a 3 point deficit only. It was a magical 1 minute and 21 seconds when Mabunay and Generoso tag teamed to make those terrific offensive plays. It was the game changer simply amazing to watch. Great very great and important win for us. Both of them are heroes of this game in my book."

"Luis Angelo Rubi was again magnificient scoring 16 points and pulling down 19 rebounds. Inserto starting at PG had 11 assists while Joey Castellano had U21 high 17 points and Eric Melendrez chipping in 11 points also."

"Next we face Kazakhstan then Macau then top favorite to win our pool Hong Kong. Hopefully by the time we meet Hong Kong our boys will have improved much to give us a decent chance of winning against them."
