So most draftees get fired or sold off for pennies. What if we had the option to take those draftees (and only the ones you personally drafted) and send them to a farm team for a fee of maybe 100k. You could only do this up to 10 days after the draft and you don't see that player again until the next season. But when you get them back they will have had random stat increases anywhere from 1 to 20 points (non weighted chance) with also a 10% chance of increasing potential by 1 or 2 steps.

I think this would be great option for mediocre draftees to have a shot to turn into something more trainable. You could even make an arena upgrade that could slightly increase the range of improvement.

Level 1: 2 to 21 skill points and 15% chance for potential upgrade
Level 2: 3 to 22 skill points and 20% chance for potential upgrade
Level 3: 4 to 23 skill points and 25% chance for potential upgrade

This seems pretty cool. I don't actually see many downsides, and it maybe gives a bit of dignity to the 40ish or so draftees in each league every season that are complete crap.

Kind of like NBA G league if I am following you. Cool idea. Worth exploring.

I'd love to see something like this, but I think the numbers need a bit of work tho... What about this:

Level 1: 5 to 10 skill points
Level 2: 10 to 15 skill points
Level 3: 10 to 20 skill points

Note: None of each ability can't go higher than 3 levels.

About %chance for potential upgrade, I'd say to be more variable as:

9-10 potential - 5% chance for potential upgrade
7-8 potential - 10% chance for potential upgrade
5-6 potential - 25% chance for potential upgrade
0-4 potential - 50% chance for potential upgrade

In my opinion, that would make more sense.

Anyway, I loved your suggestion!

The more I think about it, the more I think the arena add-on option is a bad idea. Who is going to pay $1 million in upgrades plus $15k a week for something they MIGHT use once a season?

It needs to be a high risk/high reward option so that nobody would want to send already good rookies down there. So the average reward would need to be lower than what most other managers could produce. But the upper end of the range needs to be higher than what a good manager could produce. Otherwise there is no point in sending the rookie down. So I think a 0-26 range would work since most managers can easily get over 13 pops for an 18 or 19 y/o. That could make sending an 18 y/o 50 TP Perenial Allstar down there worth it in the hopes of getting lucky and getting a 76 TP 19 y/o back next season. The odds are long against this but a few will get lucky. And again, it wouldn't be free. You'd have to pay 100k to roll the dice.

I really like the weighted potential system though. That makes a lot more sense.

I really like this idea! The G League team concept adds an interesting layer of strategy to the training / draft process. It gives draftees, who might not initially seem promising, a chance to develop. This also allow teams to compete more effectively in the present while also preparing for future seasons.

I like the idea of potential upgrade. I also would like to raise the idea of potential downgrade.

Potential upgrade would make players in the SS-PAS realm more lucrative and increase their values in the market.

It would also make gathering an MVP or HOF player not as bulletproof and guaranteed "jackpot".

Farm teams would likely be something to be explored upon. I think the fee should be steeper imo, as the GM would want a more-ready player in the end, making their more competitive. However that can be identified as a GM trying to take the easy way out.

IRL teams must have developmental stages in order to foster growth and rebuild. Take into account teams like the Kings and Thunder, they had to suck for a bit in order to be playoff contenders now.
