Sharing a few thoughts

I'd like to share a few things to give everyone an update.

We've had a successful season so far. We've won all the games we expected to win in the first round and just came off a nice victory over a higher ranked Philippines team. Unfortunately we ended up with a tough group for the second round with three teams ranked in the top 20. We will do our best to squeeze out the best possible performance along the way.

The good news is that through the first round I've been able to get really familiar with our players and learn how to best put the roster together.

I'd like to share some thoughts on how I like to put the team together:

First, I am completely unbiased in how I pick the team. I will always choose players based on what I think gives us the best chance to win. You will notice that I currently don't even have any of my own players on the team. Although, I am working on a couple players that I hope will contribute someday.

Second, I like well rounded players. I don't like players that have a few strong skills and everything else is weak. For example, I will hesitate with a player that has super high OD, JS, DR, HD but everything else is subpar. I also don't like players with major holes. If a player is atrocious in any skill I will really hesitate to use that player. My view is that every player can contribute to rebounding, passing, etc. The more well rounded a player is the more he can contribute to the team's overall performance.

Third, Game Shape, Game Shape, Game Shape. This plays a big role in who plays each week. If your game shape is not high you probably won't play.

If you'd like me to take a look at your player to let you know how he fits and get my suggestions feel free to message me. Also, if your player has trained up during the season please send me updates on his progress. I try to leave a few slots open for late season additions.

Thanks again for putting your trust in me as national team coach.
