Hello all Home-Grown League (HGL) managers!

This is an official Scores-thread of HGL, in where all the Home-Grown League Pickup match box score links are being sent. These matches are assigned to you by HGL, so please do not send any other box score links to this thread. This thread is not intended to use for discussion either, as both discussion and score links are tried to keep separate for the ease of use/for easier searchability and readability.

Please send box score links only to this forum (and not to league Commissioner BBMail, or to other homegrown teams-related forum threads, such as "Homegrown teams II" or "Home-Grown League (HGL) Season 1 Official Thread").

When you send your Pickup box score links on this thread, please do it the following way to make it easier for all of us (especially for league Commissioner), and to help us to retain some standard.

Note an addition to HGL rules (on March 26th) on sending box score links: All teams send all box scores links before season starts, so they'll be immediately available for the whole regular season!

To the box score forum thread post, please add:

1. Round number and day when the game was played
- as for Round number, you can write either R4 or Round 4 (Round 4 preferred)
- you can use any format as you feel most suitable, European or American
- If you use American format, as long as you use words you can do it any way you wish, for
instance "May 3rd", "12 May", etc.
- If you use any format without words, would you please follow European standards: day.month.year (exactly in this order)

2. Names of the teams involved in a match
- We'd prefer full team names instead of abbreviations
- Don't sweat it if you don't remember how your opposing team name is written correctly, point is just to see directly (without clicking the link) which match it is that we're talking about

3. Link to box score in either way:
A) by a regular kind of direct web page link to box score, such as https://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/XXXXXXXXX/boxscore.aspx (in where XXXXXXXXX represents the match number), you can simply access this by visiting match box score web page
B) go to the match box score page in question, and copy/make note of the number of the PU match (visible at web browsers' address line, or also in brackets after the team names). Then return to this forum thread to send your box score link, and do so by using 'a basketball button' on the page into where you write text to be sent to forum; that is located above the text frame. Pressing a button will automatically create a string of text such as '[match=XXX.XX]', and as you replace XXX.XX with your match number, the box score link will be automatically created. It will create a functional link to a match box score, which will look like this: (132386153).

4. Write score of the match to your post (optional)
- you may (and are strongly encouraged to!) add a score of match to your box score post; it speeds up many things and creates a preferable minimum standard (as handling all scores through forum thread will be really unhandy anyway, but even more so if we don't stick to certain standards!)

Announcement 6.4.2025:

We are now ready with our match organization process for HGL Season 1!
I want to thank all managers from co-operation when setting up the HGL schedule, and wish you all best of luck for the Season 1!

Wow, what an amount of work should I say, but at least it should prove to be bit easier for forthcoming seasons on some aspects, as we now have some functional practices in use now and some experience on what might require extra attention and what kind of challenges we might face in terms of smooth operation of HGL.

So, less than hours until the start of very first season of HGL ever, Season 1 - exciting times!

As you all could see from MrJ's salary comparison listing, it is going to be very interesting and competitive league. As you can remember, 4 best teams in regular season will receive an automatic place for Second Round of Playoffs, and teams on positions from 5th to 12th will play on first round of playoffs, and teams on positions from 13th to 16th will not participate on postseason play. (Please remember though: even if you would be one of the teams that do not reach the Playoffs, you can not become non-homegrown team by buying HGL ineligible players, if you want to participate to HGL next season)!

If we use Top 8-salaries as a base for comparison, Top 3 of the league (Sväty Jur Snakers, Santa Eufemia Ducks and Heywood Big Dogs) are at their own numbers ($639K-$520K), but not far away follows Suuret Muinaiset (4th; $371K), WiMaOlCa (5th; $328K) and Rajdersi (6th; $301K).

Are we going to have a fiery fight for a 4th spot on the league table, position that will automatically secure team a place in Second Round of Playoffs?

Then teams ranked/seeded from 9th to 12th in Top 8 salary rankings pay wages between $222K (Les Gueux du Marais) and $196K (Lielupes Melnas Sirdis), which should make this a very interesting battle as well.

As for wages, Holy City Hoopers is 13th with $148K and Buckner Bandits 14th with $105K salaries. Will either of these teams be able to clinch the last playoff spot instead of higher Top 8-salary teams? It sure is going to be interesting to see!

Remember - naturally the better you finish during Regular Season, the "easier" opponent you will get on the First Round of Playoffs, so give it all you've got - few positions upper or lower in Regular Season could be the decisive factor on whether you can win your opponent or not! Being a lower ranked team you will always get an away match during playoffs, so it's best to do everything you can to get as high ORSR (Official Regular Season Ranking) for Playoffs as possible!

Special good spirit prize goes already before season to Swan River Serpents and BigChillers, as they participate to HGL with smallest Top 8 budgets, $55K and $59K, respectively. Therefore achieving great success during Season 1 would then be challenging to reach, but to me this is close to a perfect example that being homegrown team isn't all about huge league success (as it's typically understood), but a choice, and for many of us, almost "a lifestyle". So it's great to see you joining HGL, as you are setting a great example for other teams - it is not necessary to have highest team payroll in order to be able to enjoy HGL!

Note, that box score links of matches will be copied to official schedule posts (here (326590.5), here (326590.6), and for playoffs here (326590.7)) from each manager's own box score posts, and only those matches on official posts are accepted as official HGL results.
(Match must start at the correct time, match number must be the same as in official schedule's copied links - in other words, managers can't change matches on their season box score post without approval or request by league Commissioner).


Please note, in the order of significance:
A) If teams are tied in points, team with less forfeits will be higher ranked, and
B) Teams tied for regular season points are officially ranked based not on scoring differential, but rather based on the result of their current season regular season match (winner of that match will be a higher ranked team).
League table will/might not reflect this correctly before the last regular season match (Round 15) scores have been revealed, after which Official Regular Season Rankings (ORSR) for Season 1 of HGL are being released, and playoff matches for that season will be organized based on aforementioned ORSR.
"In the order of significance" (above) means, that comparison is made in this order, if teams are tied in points.

PS. As you can see, Buzzerbeater text editor is utterly useless for tables such as this, and disagrees to accept previous formatting that text/table has had, or even refusing to add spaces that I add between the numbers. For instance I hit space about 25 times between the uppermost lines' ("BIG") last and second to last zero, and while in this BB text editor it shows there's a considerable amount of space, in the actual post it seems as though I would've hit the space one time.

Tips are appreciated if you guys are more experienced with these league table/formatting/BB text editor issues, as I hope we don't have to live with these kind of messy tables for too long... I tried to resolve this issue with team abbreviations on the league table (as with the full names it looked absolutely ridiculous), but this certainly isn't ideal either.

HGL Season 1 schedule and results, part 1/2

Information on regular season and playoffs match days for HGL Season 1:

Match days will be Mondays and Fridays during regular season and Sundays during playoffs.
All teams face each other once on neutral court during regular season.
In playoffs home court advantage always goes to better team; if tied for wins, the winner of current season meeting is being ranked as a higher team. Playoffs is a single-elimination tournament, only exception being a semifinal, from which losers of semifinal proceed to a Bronze match.

We'd like to ask you to follow certain routines/rules when sending box scores to this forum so that we could make this manual updating process a bit more manageable to a league Commissioner.

So in addition to what has been mentioned before, there are some things to note and remember when sending box score links:

1. Please send box scores of your Pickup (PU) games as soon as possible, because league table is created based on these box score links and can't (or rather won't) be fully updated before all of you have sent all box score links from the given round of play

2. Remember, that PU games are not visible to other users than for the teams involved in the match, so either you or your opponent must send the link to the box score, as nobody else can do it

3. It is necessary to send box scores within certain time frame (timeframe still in consideration; TBA) so that we can keep updating the league table more or less regularly (as it's sensible to do the update with all box scores from that round available)

4. If you already see your game box score being sent to the forum (by your opposing team), there's no need to do it again. If you see it sent to a wrong thread (other than this), please do send it again in this correct forum thread. In some (unlikely) cases it might be necessary for a league Commissioner to send you a reminder by BBMail or on official league thread 'Home-Grown League (HGL) Season 1 Official Thread', if no box score of match has been sent to this forum thread.

5. Based on discretion, league Commissioner can also accept box scores sent to the aforementioned, official league forum, but as a basic rule all box score links should be sent on this, and only on this forum thread.

6. Please also bear in mind, that it is not a duty/obligation of a league Commissioner to send such reminder posts/BBMails, but managers involved in a match are responsible for sending box scores within the required timeframe (timeframe still in consideration; TBA).

7. It's the aim of the league Commissioner to update the league table within a decent timeframe of played matches to keep it relatively current. Many factors, including how quickly all box scores are being sent to the forum also plays a role in this, so everyone can speed up the process in their part by sending the scores to the forum without too much delay.
Given that all updates to league table are done manually, please be prepared to it that updates practically never won't happen as quickly as in a regular Buzzerbeater league (and if decided to be updated while still all scores from the round not being available, not all teams seem to have same amount of matches played, unlike in Buzzerbeater league table)).

8. We organize all regular season matches during one time window before the regular season starts, so when every manager does this properly, all the regular season matches will be played in time. Therefore if delays occur in sending box score links during regular season, in theory it's only because neither manager hasn't yet sent box score link to the thread (and not because match hasn't been played at all).

9.On the other hand, like mentioned before, playoffs is the riskiest time of the year for HGL, and if possible, we'd ask you to set up some reminders so that you remember to arrange playoff match for your team each and every week (unless you lose before semifinals, which is the last match of the season for your team).

Announcement 23.3.2025:

We are now ready to organize all regular season matches for HGL Season 1!

If you´re unsure about process, please read: (326589.6), (324689.633) or ask questions on official HGL threads.


Info on organizing HGL regular Season 1 matches:

Very important: If you are responsible for organizing a PU game, you need to schedule it for the time listed on this page (in front of your team name): (326590.2)!

1. MrJ has produced schedule (15 matches/team), here:(324689.513).
Schedule (with links to team websites) can be found also from post by T-Lit: (326590.21).
Please note:
A) use either above mentioned schedules with bolded text when organizing matches. In these schedules the team that has bolded name, is responsible for sending Pickup match challenge, and your opponent is responsible for accepting it.
(Do not use this, otherwise official schedule, here: (326590.5) when organizing matches.
B) note, that above schedules do not include match time.

For each team an Official Local Time is provided, which they use when sending PU match invitations. Found (before team name), here: (326590.2).
Use only this time given to your team specifically, and nothing else, when organizing Pickup matches!

2. Before team sends or accepts match challenge, it is important to check out specifics of a match.
That means 3 things:
A) is day correct in a sent challenge? (check your own HGL schedule to confirm! Here: (326590.21), or here: (326590.5))
B) is time correct? (check your own team specific Official Local Time for HGL matches, link next one below).
Remember: if you are team sending challenge, you need to use designated time given to your team as a match time, found in this table: (326590.2)
If you are team that accepts challenge, match should take place at time that your team should play it's matches, your local time)
C) is court balance neutral (for regular season match)? If not, do not accept the match invitation. Matches played with wrong court balance do not count!
In such case, contact manager who has sent wrong challenge, and/or write a reminder on an official HGL thread, here: (326590.1), and/or send me a BBMail.

3. Send Pickup match invites to all teams, in which matchups your team name is bolded.
Schedule, here: (326590.21) or here:(324689.513).
To access each teams page easily, check T-Lit's post: (326590.21)
Again, please be very careful with all the specifics (day, time, neutral court balance) when you send invitations.

4. Accept all correct invites sent to you.
Check out:
A) should I be receiving this match invitation from this team? (HGL schedule provides answer). If not, don't accept it and contact manager by BBMail, send post to official HGL thread or BBMail to me.
B) If challenge comes from team that is supposed to send you a challenge, are all match specifics (day, time, neutral court balance) correct?

5. Check (and double check!) your BB schedule after whole process is completed.
Note:
A) not all managers accept invites quickly
B) you should have 15 regular season matches arranged for HGL Season 1
C) if you play also other Pickup matches than those for HGL, make sure you won't count them as being one of the 15
D) confirm that match dates and times show up correctly in your team schedule.
There has been problems with arranging PU matches, especially if they overlap some other match.
So we ask you to not play other than HGL Pickup matches so that they start just before HGL match, or so that they overlap it.

6. If all B), C) and D) from previous ('5.') are correct, let us know that all your matches are properly organized. I'll keep an updateable list of confirmed teams. Contact us on forums or send me BBMail, if problems arise.
