Strong finish

Strong Finish for NZ U21 in the BuzzerBeater Consolation Cup

The New Zealand U21 basketball team are wrapping up their Consolation Cup campaign with a strong finish, signalling a clear step forward after a challenging season.

After struggling to find consistency last year, the squad now appears to have found its identity under the current manager’s leadership. The team’s improved performances have not only lifted morale but also sparked a rethink about the future.

Earlier in the season, the manager had indicated he would not seek re-election. However, the recent surge in form has left the door open.

"The boys have shown real grit and growth in these past few games," the manager said. "We’re finally playing the kind of basketball we’ve been aiming for. It’s made me reconsider my plans — I may yet put my name forward for the next elections."

With the team showing renewed confidence and momentum, this is very much a “watch this space” moment for New Zealand basketball fans.
